Age at the Youth Parapan Am Games: 14-20 years (only 3 players aged 19 or 20 are permitted on each team)

Football 7-a-side is practiced by athletes with cerebral palsy resulting from traumatic brain injury or stroke. The sport uses Fifa rules, though some adaptations have been made by the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association. The field measures 75 metres by 55 metres, with penalty areas measuring 5 metres by 2 metres. The penalty spot is 9.2 metres from the centre of the goal-line.

Each team has seven players (including the goalkeeper) and five substitutes. A match lasts 60 minutes, split into two halves of 30 minutes with a 10-minute interval. There is no offside rule and throw-ins can be taken with one hand, rolling the ball on the ground. During the match, the team must have at least one class 5 or 6 player (more severely disabled) on the pitch at all times, as well as a maximum of one class 8 player (minimally disabled).
